Hi all,

I recently purchased a M3 and today I tried out a couple of 0-60 runs. The best time I got was 6.2. This can't be right surly? This was in S5. I tried S6 but too much wheel spinning to get a quick move off from standstill. Does anyone have any suggestions and has anyone tried this them selfs? I want to at least achieve the 0-60 of 5.4 as per manufactures guidelines.

Please help!!!

I dont know how to fix it but you are about 1.5 off Should be under 5 with a SMG coupe and close to 5 to under it with the Vert.

Its a coupe, 2004. Any suggestions for a quicker get away? I started the stop watch when my foot touched the pedal, so I lost a little time waiting for the revs to pick up, but still can't be right?

Stop watches are terrible, unless you got the dude who thumbs the Olympic times. You need to rev it to about 3k dump the clutch and go to the redline everytime. If you have a MT dont get of the gas push the clutch in shift and let it out. If you are good you wont bounce more than 100rpm and wont limiter bump. Its all redline man.

The e46 m3 does not have a 0-62 time of 4.8 as stated by BMW. Even with Launch control on the SMG or 6MT, it manages to do 100 kM in 5.3 seconds best time. However, a complete basic package ZCP m3 can pull off 5.1's, best time.

I haven't tried Launch control yet. But I'm sure I can get at least 5.0 with smg S5?

Learn how to do launch control in S6 with good warm tires and DSC off. But you still won't go under 5.3 even if you did a flawless launch.

How did you time it anyways? stop watch in hand?

okey.

A. You're using S5.
B. You don't know how to launch control.
C. You have another person in the car.
D. Stop watch accuracy can be off anywhere from 0 to .07, sometimes even more.

Get some good tires, learn how to launch using SMG, go to a quarter mile track and do a few runs and see what you come up with. According to your posts, you don't sound like a professional driver, so if you walk away with anything under 5.8-5.9; consider it a good day.

Just watched the vid on the guy who blew his rear axle drag racing in PB. Not sure I would be pushing it bud!

well, youre in GB so the smg LC will let you dump at 3400, mine only goes up to 1800...

LC instructions

turn the dcs off, sport button on, select S6, push the shift lever forward and slowly depress the gas pedal to the floor...let go of the shift lever when you are ready to take off...and get ready to shift, the 8000 limiter comes very fast...

What exactly makes you the resident expert on this? And how do you explain your suggestion that a ZCP should be any quicker? You do understand that 19's will actually hinder acceleration right?

I can certainly post links to magazine articles showing consistent sub 5 sec 0-60 times but I'll hang tight and wait for your answers first.

Do me a favor and save yourself the time, i've seen all of the magazines. Reason i mentioned that Zcp might be slightly quicker is because most zcps are 05+ and have a higher tendency to have the sun roof delete option.

The fastest 100km time i've witnessed was a manual 06 zcp running 5.39 with an R/t of .27. And i've seen many times averaging 5.6s on stock or almost stock m3s. If you have a slip and want to post it, i would actually be happy to see something lower than the best i've seen.

I've been to Germany, its there. ;)

But i'm not trying to argue, if you believe that it can do 4.8, good for you. Just don't be disappointed if you're nowhere close.

Where to start...

1. The mags are often a "best case" scenario however the times are consistent enough to draw some conclusions. You apparently believe they simply made the numbers up.

2. So because you haven't personally seen something it's not possible? Oddly enough, the best time you've personally seen from a ZCP is 5.39, however in your original post you state that the best a ZCP can do is 5.1? So where did 5.1 come from?

3. Slips are for 1/4 miles. I sat in my friends M3 and watched the Gtech register 4.8 (MT) 0-60. If you don't trust the Gtech, well then perhaps you'll defer to the more expensive solutions the magazines use...oh wait...

I havent. I dont care what you have seen. I HAVENT seen it. Just like you. You havent seen the time slips you dont believe it. So until you see it with YOUR EYEs it doesnt exist.

I actually have been around the world a few times. Point of your insane logic should be evident.
